About me

My name is Audrey Harings, and I was born in a beautiful Roman city in the middle of Europe.

By the age of 11, I was already reviewing children’s books for national TV, as our neighbour in the small suburb where I grew up in was in charge of a children’s TV show. Later on as a teenager I wrote short stories for the school newspaper.

In 2016 I published my first book called Sharj. It was so well received that I continued on to publish another three parts for Sharj. After this, everything happened in a flash. I published a number of books targeted at children and teenagers. These were bedtime stories as well as fairy tales and fantasy books. Two of my books have been bestsellers on amazon and I am currently publishing my first book in English, Ferdinand, the Last Christmas Dragon.

I live with my husband, two daughters, two cats and two dogs on the southern Costa Blanca in Spain. Writing books for children and teenagers is my passion and I am said to be pretty talented at this. If you don’t believe me, find out for yourself. See below for testimonials and opinions.

Yours - Audrey

I am very proud to present the first translated book in English. It is about a dragon, but not your average everyday dragon, it is about Ferdinand, the last Christmas dragon. It is a magical fantasy story. However, Ferdinand has lost his magic because people don’t believe in him anymore. Without his magic, he can’t be a Christmas dragon and his three unborn brothers are still waiting in their eggs, unhatched, for Ferdinand to get his magic back.

This children’s book is a magical fairy tale about friendship, family, coherence, the power of believing and what you are able to do when you are tolerant and kind-hearted towards other people.

The story is also appropriate as a bedtime story for self-readers starting at six years of age.

Ferdinand the last Christmas dragon lives hidden in a secret cave. Actually Ferdinand is the last Christmas dragon, but only actually, because he still has his three siblings, who are stuck in their dragon eggs and without magic they can't hatch. Unfortunately, people no longer believe in the Christmas dragons and so Ferdinand has lost his magic and is very sad. One day the equally unhappy bat Hugo plops into his cave. Together they explore the night and look for someone who still believes in Christmas dragons.

I read this book together with my son (8) and we were thrilled. It's a very nice story that tells us that faith doesn't have to be embarrassing but is something very beautiful. We hoped Max would believe the story about Christmas dragons and bring Ferdinand back his magic. The pictures were great once again. 5 out of 5*.

..... It is a successful book about faith, destiny and friendship. The courage to prove oneself and to learn that family includes friends.

The affectionately written story is illustrated with sweet pictures, which pull one into the spell.

An absolute must, NOT ONLY FOR CHILDREN!

Cover:
The cover shows a night with a full moon. A small bat can be seen and a dark cave where something is lurking.

Content:
I found this children's book very beautifully written. It's about Ferdinand, the last Christmas dragon. It is actually the last of its kind, because people have forgotten that these dragons once existed and thus magic is forfeited.
One day the bat Hugo comes along, who doesn't want to be a bat anymore, because her relatives only push him around. The two friends get together and make a plan how they can hatch the 3 dragon eggs without magic. These dragon eggs are Ferdinand's siblings.

I liked Ferdinand very much. Because he is a rather shy dragon and not scary at all. Because of the long time he spent alone, it is very lonely. All the more the reader is happy when Hugo discovers him and he gets a friend.

The book also has a lot of pictures inside, which are only black and white, but I liked them very much. It makes the story round and especially when you read it to children you have a better idea of everything.

Conclusion:
A great children's book that I would like to read to my son this year at Christmas. I am looking forward to reading the book a second time.
